The downpour is forecasted to continue through the afternoon, with a gradual easing anticipated around 4 p.m.
The city is experiencing a sharp drop in temperatures, with the mercury dipping to around 14°C in the morning, remaining below the seasonal average throughout the day. This change is attributed to the arrival of cooler air, which, when combined with warm, moisture-laden air near the surface, is expected to result in thunderstorms, lightning, and strong showers.
Meteorological authorities have issued warnings for Istanbul and several provinces in the Marmara and western Black Sea regions regarding the risks of sudden flooding, strong winds, and transport disruptions. The public is advised to exercise caution due to the potential for severe weather conditions, including lightning.
Improvement in weather conditions is expected from Thursday, with forecasts indicating a rise in temperatures to around 21°C and no significant rainfall predicted.
