The reserves of Türkiye’s central bank have experienced a significant rise, gaining nearly $40 billion since late June to reach their highest point in approximately five months. As of the week ending August 21, the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) saw its total reserves swell by an estimated $5.3 billion, bringing the total to around $188.8 billion, up from $183.5 billion the previous week.
Earlier in the year, by June 26, the reserves had dwindled to nearly $149.2 billion, marking a low point before they began a robust ascent. By the conclusion of July, the reserves had climbed to $164.4 billion, continuing their upward trajectory through the month of August.
The current rise places the reserves approximately $39.6 billion above the June low, reaching their highest since mid-March. This upward trend underscores a period of recovery and growth for Türkiye’s central bank reserves, reflecting a positive shift in economic conditions.
Official figures detailing the reserves for the week ending August 21 are anticipated to be released on Thursday, providing further clarity on the bank’s financial standing.
