Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit the United Arab Emirates for discussions focusing on regional security, amid ongoing conflicts involving Iran and developments in Gaza and Lebanon. This visit marks Fidan’s second trip to the UAE since March, signaling the importance of these diplomatic engagements.
The talks will also encompass preparations for the next meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council, a crucial platform for bilateral cooperation. Fidan is anticipated to emphasize the necessity of enhanced regional collaboration to address conflicts and minimize external interventions, particularly in light of the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait to international trade.
Both countries are expected to delve into the situation in Gaza, focusing on the implementation of the second phase of the peace plan, as well as efforts related to humanitarian assistance and reconstruction. As founding members of the Board of Peace, Türkiye and the UAE are poised to coordinate their activities to promote stability in the region.
In addition, maintaining ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon will be a key topic, with both nations striving to support regional stability through diplomatic means. The Türkiye-UAE Strategic Partnership, established in 2023, has seen significant developments, with the High-Level Strategic Council’s first leaders’ meeting held in Ankara in July 2025.
Economic ties between the two countries have also strengthened, with bilateral trade reaching $19.346 billion in 2025, making the UAE Türkiye’s largest trading partner in the Gulf. This economic partnership underscores the broader strategic relationship between the two nations as they navigate complex regional dynamics together.
