The initiative aims to challenge university students with practical cybersecurity scenarios, culminating in a final event on September 18, 2026, at GISEC Global in Dubai.
The competition structure includes several phases, beginning with an online qualification round. Successful participants will then engage in a case study where they must evaluate a security situation and propose effective solutions. Their submissions will undergo expert scrutiny, and the top five teams will receive mentoring before advancing to the final stage. During the finals, these teams will present and defend their solutions before a panel of cybersecurity experts. The areas of focus for this year’s event include network protection, threat management, system security, incident response, and the integration of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
Circularo’s sponsorship reflects its dedication to providing practical experience that complements academic learning for students. In addition to financial support, the company plans to offer industry expertise through classroom interactions and engagements with participants. This effort follows the inaugural School of Cyber Defence competition during GISEC Global 2025, which saw over 300 applications from UAE universities and participation from 130 students in the qualifying rounds.
The competition is open to students aged 17 and above, who can form teams of up to five members. No prior competition experience is necessary to participate, and there is a prize pool exceeding AED 20,000. Key dates include the close of registration on September 3, 2026, the online qualification by September 6, 2026, case study assessments from September 7 to 11, 2026, and finalists’ mentoring on September 14, 2026, leading up to the final on September 18, 2026, at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo City Dubai.
