Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal recently engaged in a series of meetings with Finland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Riikka Purra, as well as Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto, to bolster economic ties and enhance trade and investment between India and Finland. These discussions aimed at expanding collaboration across key sectors and exploring new opportunities for partnership.
During the meetings, both parties focused on several critical areas such as digitalisation, innovation, and research and development. They also considered ways to foster startups and business partnerships. The dialogue extended to potential cooperation in cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, 6G, quantum technologies, semiconductors, space, and sustainability, highlighting the shared commitment to advancing these fields.
A significant aspect of the discussions was the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Both countries deliberated on how this agreement could serve as a catalyst for enhancing bilateral trade and attracting investment, thereby creating new avenues for businesses to thrive.
