Türkiye has reiterated its dedication to bolstering maritime security and enhancing its defense capabilities, as highlighted during the conclusion of Teknofest Blue Homeland. At the event held at Gölcük Naval Shipyard, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz emphasized the increasing significance of safeguarding Türkiye’s maritime interests, often referred to as the “Blue Homeland,” in the face of rising geopolitical tensions, security challenges, and intense competition over critical technologies, energy resources, and trade routes.
The showcase featured an impressive display of 37 vessels and four aircraft, including notable assets such as the TCG Anadolu, TCG Istanbul frigate, TCG Derya, and the Murat Reis submarine, along with advanced domestically developed unmanned maritime systems. Yılmaz pointed out Türkiye’s ongoing efforts to integrate manned and unmanned platforms through the use of artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors, and secure communications, which are all pivotal to enhancing the nation’s defense infrastructure.
Yılmaz also highlighted a significant milestone in the country’s defense industry, noting that the localization rate has surpassed 80%. This achievement underpins Türkiye’s strategic ambition to solidify its status as a leading global defense exporter. The focus on technological independence and innovation reflects Türkiye’s broader goals in fortifying its defense capabilities and addressing contemporary security challenges effectively.
Teknofest Blue Homeland was not only a platform to demonstrate advanced maritime technologies but also served as a hub for nurturing future talent. The event featured competitions centered on unmanned underwater systems, maritime vehicles, and underwater technologies, underscoring the country’s commitment to fostering young engineers and innovators. This initiative aims to inspire the next generation of professionals who will contribute to Türkiye’s technological advancement and defense prowess.
