Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov has emphasized that the defense relationship with India has “long ago moved beyond a traditional buyer-seller model to joint production and full technology-sharing arrangements.” This was the cornerstone of a speech announcing a major new defense push.
Alipov highlighted that this deep integration is the reason Russia is a “unique” partner, one that “willingly shares” its battlefield experience with India. This is demonstrated in joint ventures like the BrahMos missile and Su-30 MKI jets.
Building on this legacy of shared technology, Alipov proposed the next step: local production of the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter. This offer is designed to support India’s indigenous AMCA fighter program.
The ambassador also mentioned ongoing talks for drones and advanced anti-drone systems, further cementing the high-tech, collaborative nature of the partnership.
This announcement serves as a strong counter-signal to US pressure. After Donald Trump claimed India would stop buying Russian oil, a claim refuted by the MEA, Russia is showcasing the deep, long-term benefits of its “all-weather” friendship with New Delhi.
